Mandarin Students Experience Chinese Culture in Chinatown Chicago
VAHS Mandarin Program students went to Chinatown in Chicago for a cultural field trip in May. We started our trip by visiting the Chinese-American Museum, where students had the chance to look at some vintage Chinese arts. They learned the history of Chinatown by watching a short movie created by the local Chinese Americans.
After the museum, the students explored Chinatown local shops, they really like the boba tea shop, Chinese bakery store, K-POP music store, and the Chinese souvenirs, they even practiced their bargaining skills in Mandarin with some local Chinese owners. Last but not the least, they tried out some great (XI AN 西安)Chinese food, and some of them are pretty good at using chopsticks for the first time!
