Student Devices

We emphasize a balanced approach. Students need plenty of time for face-to-face interactions, exercise, and of course, sleep! Students need to develop an ability to self-regulate their screen time. Setting some parameters and modeling and discussing the importance of balance will help. It could mean putting devices down at dinner, collecting the device at bedtime, and discussing what is appropriate for your child. Securly (the web filter) also has a parent portal that will provide you with tools to help you monitor and regulate usage.

Yes, all District-owned devices will be filtered. Students in grades K-12 will utilize a filter called Securly. Securly has some unique features. 

Parents may choose to discuss their questions and/or concerns with the Educational Technology Coach at their building during the open house or contact them throughout the year:

This will vary by what grade your child is in. Grades K-3 will keep their devices at school unless a parent chooses to opt in to taking the devices home.  This information will be sent out at the beginning of the school year and there will be a two week period ot opt into taking the device home.  Grades 4-8 will be able to take their devices home as soon as they recieve them.  High school students keep their devices over the summer. Incoming freshman will get their devices on their first day of school.
