Device Insurance Program

What happens in the event of accidental damage, loss or theft?

VASD offers an insurance program called the Device Insurance Program, and it is available for students in grades 6-12 (and K-5 if they opt to take the device home).  Enrolling in the program protects you in the event of accidental damage, loss or theft. By enrolling in the program, the maximum liability is $ 100.00 per incident for iPads and $60 for Chromebooks (for example if you student breaks their headphone jack and the cost is $60 you would be responsible for it all. If your student breaks their devices LCD and the repair cost is $180 you would only be responsible for $100 or $60 depending on the device).  If you are fee exempt and opt to share that information, the maximum liability is $ 25.00 per incident.

If a family chooses to decline to enroll, they are responsible for the entire cost to repair/replace an iPad or Chromebook. Replacement costs are listed below, and repair costs vary, depending on the extent of the damage.

Device Insurance Information

iPad Insurance Program K-1

Students who are issued a device from the Verona Area School District are responsible for taking care of the device and for protecting the device from loss or damage. The total cost is about $350 dollars and repairs can be expensive. To assist in decreasing possible financial responsibility, the school district is offering accident protection for our 1:1 iPad technology initiative. Registering and purchasing a yearly insurance program will protect you from the full cost to repair or replace your district-issued device and limit the amount of money to a per-occurrence deductible, should a loss occur. iPads are expected to be in their provided case at all times. In addition, any accidents or damages should be reported immediately.

Additional questions can be directed to your schools Educational Technology Systems Technicians (ETST's).
