The Verona Area School District’s board policy on transportation eligibility (click here to view) shares that Badger Bus MUST provide transportation to:
- Kindergarten to 5th grade students if they live 1.25 miles or more from their school
- 6th-12th grade students if they live 2.0 miles or more from their school
Exceptions are made for students who need to cross “unusually hazardous” transportation corridors discussed below. In addition, families who live within the mileage limit according to Google Maps distance, but still desire transportation must fill out a special transportation request by clicking here. The means of determining the distance to a school is by use of Google Maps, walking distance, which utilizes available bike/pedestrian paths. There are a small number of households which Badger Bus deems as walkable even though Google maps shares that household as transportation eligible (meaning the walk is farther than district policy states per age group). This occurs because Google often directs a student to a front door of the school building, causing a considerable extra walking distance. To help address this situation, Badger Bus has worked with the school district to list the following addresses for parents to enter in Google maps when trying to determine if your student is eligible for transportation or is within walking distance:
- New Century and Verona Area International School students should use 400 N. Main Street as the address.
- Sugar Creek students should use 740 N. Main Street.
- Verona Area High School students should use 234 Wildcat Way as the school's address.
- For Badger Ridge Middle School and Core Knowledge Charter School students, use 300 Richard Street as the school's address.Unusually Hazardous Corridors/Intersections:
There are instances that Google Maps suggests a route that would have a student crossing an intersection deemed hazardous by the Dane Co Sheriff's Department. In those instances, if there is a walking path that does not include a hazardous intersection/corridor, that distance will be used to determine transportation eligibility. If you have questions on your student(s) distance or walking path to their school, please contact Badger Bus’ Brenda Anderson at brendaa@badgerbus.com.

Route information:
This year the Badger Bus will be picking up students in a white van or a yellow bus. Each child will be given a bus tag with the pick-up and drop-off point and the picture of the bus name. We purposely do not put your child’s name on the tag. The inside of your child’s backpack is a good place to have your child’s name and contact information. Please have your child ready 10 minutes before the scheduled time. The vehicle may be late the first few days and during the inclement weather. An adult MUST be present to get your child on and off the van or bus. Your child will not be released unless an adult is present. All children must wear a face mask on the bus or van.
Please review these expectations and rules with your child:
Be safe:
Face mask on
Body facing forward
Back to back (student’s back touching the back of the seat)
Bottom to bottom (student’s bottom to the bottom of the seat)
Backpack in your lap
Quiet Inside voice
Be kind:
Hands and body to yourself
Keep your backpack closed
Use your manners
If your child will not be riding the bus to school please contact Badger Bus by calling 608-709-7747.
Have a great year,
Jennifer Skibba

Mantenerse seguro:
