In recognition of the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of our district, VASD is proud to offer programming to prepare bilingual and bi-literate students to achieve high levels of success academically, linguistically, and socially. At the elementary and middle school levels, families can choose:

• Spanish Two-Way Immersion (TWI). TWI is currently available for grades K-10.

  • Glacier Edge and Stoner Prairie students attend Glacier Edge for TWI.

  • Sugar Creek and Country View students attend Sugar Creek for TWI.

  • Badger Ridge and Savanna Oaks students attend Badger Ridge for TWI.

• Chinese Immersion at Verona Area International School

• "English as a Second Language" instruction at ALL sites

Because bilingualism, biliteracy, and sociocultural competency are characteristics of career and college readiness, bilingual offerings at the secondary level include Spanish Language Arts classes and sheltered English instruction across the content areas.

VASD is currently working to develop pathways for students to graduate with the Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy.
