FAQ's

  • How do I sign up for the Seal of Biliteracy?
Complete the Google Form to be assigned a "Seal Advisor." A Seal Advisor is a teacher who understands the Seal requirements and provides guidance to students pursuing the Seal. Your Seal Advisor will meet with you to discuss the requirements. If you decide you would like to proceed, the Seal Advisor will give you access to the Seal of Biliteracy Canvas course to get started.

  • How will I stay on track during the process?
You are responsible for understanding the Seal requirements and making regular progress toward earning the Seal. However, your Seal Advisor is there to address your questions and provide guidance to you along the way. Once you commit to working on the Seal, you must meet with your Seal Advisor at least once per month during an A+ to discuss your progress and continue your work. Once the meeting times are set, it is up to you to follow through with attendance and Seal requirements.

Eligible partner languages include ANY world language or American Sign Language.

  • What if the school district does not offer the second language I speak?
No problem! We have many students who speak languages that are not offered at Verona Area High School. Partner languages are not limited to those offered at VAHS.

  • When can I start working on the Seal of Biliteracy?
Students are encouraged to begin documenting their work toward the Seal of Biliteracy as early as their freshman year; however, the Seal of Biliteracy is only awarded to seniors each school year.
