Starting in 1986 James Lapine & Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Into The Woods, has been performed in over 760 productions on Broadway and many other performances around the world in different languages.

The musical intertwines plots of several fairy tales, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Rapunzel, with an addition story about a baker and his wife. Each character has their own wish which sends them into the woods. Follow these characters on their journey as they learn lifelong lessons while pursuing their wish.

VAHS students who are performing in the production include, Nathan Lucas as the Baker, Ellie Heinzen as the Baker’s Wife, Randy Kessenich as Jack, Natalie Long as Little Red, Maddie Vilker as Cinderella, Daphne Buan as Rapunzel, and Kate Veak as the Witch along with an additional cast, crew, and pit orchestra of over 50 students who join to bring the story to life.

The production is directed by Steve Nibbe and produced by VAHS senior, Kelsey Pacetti. Heather Thorpe is the vocal director with Eric Anderson as the Orchestra director. VAHS juniors, Caulden Parkel and Joshua Erickson will stage manage this show. VAHS Theatre Alums Kendra Johnson (costumes), Sara Bartlett (choreography), and Danny Halminiak (tech) complete the production team.

This is a unique production with plenty of sophisticated music and dark humor that you will not want to miss. This musical has won multiple awards including, Tony Awards for Best Score, Best Book, and Best Revival, along with an Oliver Award for Best Revival.

​Verona Area High School presents the classic Stephen Sondheim musical "Into The Woods." With a book by James Lapine, and music/lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, this wonderful fairytale adventure intertwines the stories of many beloved fairytale characters such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Ridinghood, Cinderella, The Baker and The Baker's Wife, and more. After winning three of its ten Tony Award Nominations in 1988 (including Best Score and Best Book of a Musical), Into The Woods has been revered as one of the greatest musicals of all time.

Performances are October 6th, 7th and 8th at 7:30 P.M. and October 9th at 2:00 P.M at the Verona Area High School Performing Arts Center.

$12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for students.
