Mr. Cox is incredibly excited to share his experience, knowledge, and skills with the VAHS staff, students, families, and the broader Verona area community. His vast range of experiences as an equity-focused instructional leader coupled with his focus on facilitating strong, positive school cultures that support all students, will be great assets to VAHS. His professional relationships and networks span the nation and bolster his effectiveness at advocating for students and educators alike to ensure that each student will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their personal goals, thrive in a diverse global society, and lead a healthy, self-fulfilling life. Mr. Cox brings 21 years of experience in the field of education to the VAHS Principal role. He has served as a science teacher for students in grades 7 - 12, assistant principal at the high school level, and head principal at the middle school and high school levels. He has also served as wrestling, football, and baseball coach and administrator of athletics and activities. He holds Superintendent, Director of Instruction, and Principal Certifications, a Masters of Arts in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a focus on Biology and Chemistry. He is pursuing his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership. Mr. Cox was named the Milken Outstanding Educator in 2019 for, in part, his engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues, and the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. We are excited about the future of the Verona Area High School as we continue our journey to be the national model of excellence grounded in equity.
