The Wisconsin Supreme Court recently struck down the Safer At Home Order issued by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) in its entirety, except for that portion that applies to K-12 education (public and private). Without a statewide rule, Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) issued its own order that continues the school closure through June 30.

Public and private K-12 schools in the Verona area will to remain closed for pupil instruction and extracurricular activities for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Verona Area School District will continue to facilitate virtual learning. See below for a list of ALL communications families have received since mid-March.

PLEASE HELP US SHARE this message attached from Public health to ensure your family practices social distancing! Though individuals are attempting to remain six feet apart, ANY gatherings, including playground our sports fields, playdates, “block parties”, or any small get-together, will work against slowing the spread! More recently, the Dept. of Public Health released guidelines on planning for graduation to continue this important focus into the summer.

Free cold lunches and breakfasts are available through August 30 for all students age 18 and under on a grab-and-go basis on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as families will be able to collect two days’ worth of meals on those days. The distribution sites and times are:

  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. Nakoma Heights Community Room, 4929 Chalet Gardens Rd, Fitchburg

  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. Stone Crest Apartments Community Room, 5673 King James Ct, Fitchburg

  • 12:00-1:00 p.m.  New Fountains Apartments Tennis Court Area, 5401 Williamsburg Way, Fitchburg

  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.  Hometown Junction Park (located on the bike path near the water fountains), 101 W. Railroad St, Verona
