To complete the semester, the Women in Literature students designed a museum exhibit based upon a novel they read, taking on challenging issues shared in the book. Students shared an exploration of the author, her life, her works, her philosophy, and how she came to write this story.
The result? A museum displaying themes, characters, and plots of each of their novels through physical artifacts and exhibit tags, including written explanations and quotes from the reading. Students even held engaging activities to help explain themes of the book-- from allowing museum attendees to paint, to having attendees walk on a rug that depicts the delicate work of the author's character who made and sold rugs to help her earn a dowry in the days where women were bought!
