
Exploration Academy's student, Zaria, represented the Verona Area School District well as she recited the ever popular "I Have a Dream" speech at Madison's Capital building yesterday for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.
On another note, the Verona Area School District recipients of the MLK Outstanding Young Person awards for 2016 were recently honored at the 32nd ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. OUTSTANDING YOUNG PERSON BREAKFAST.

In addition, three high school students were awarded this honor: Mariana, Damitu and Jaleah (all former Savanna Oaks students, two of which also won this award in middle school!) Congratulations to these impressive individuals!
For 32 years, the Urban League has hosted one of the largest family observances of the King Holiday in Wisconsin. The Outstanding Young Person Breakfast, held on Sunday during the King Holiday weekend, attracts more than 900 youth, families, volunteers and community leaders. Middle and high school students are presented with the Outstanding Young Person Award. Students are nominated by schools from all across Dane County based on their academic performance, community service, and extra-curricular participation.
